FINOWL / IP GEOLOCATION

An IP address. Where it is.

Get the city, region, country, latitude and longitude, and time zone of any IPv4 or IPv6 address. Answered in memory on Finowl's own servers, from data refreshed daily.

Isometric IP address card connected to a map pin block and a location result.

HOW IT WORKS

One address in.
A place out.

A single request returns the location your localization, scheduling or analytics workflow needs.
STEP / 01

Send an IP address

Post an IPv4 or IPv6 address to the IP Geolocation endpoint, authenticated with your API key.

STEP / 02

Match location data

Finowl matches the address against location data held in memory and refreshed daily. Nothing is called per request.

STEP / 03

Get the place

Receive the country, region, city, coordinates, time zone and local time, with details of the country.

SEE IT IN ACTION

From an IP address
to a place on the map.

WHERE IT FITS

Meet people
where they are.

  • Localization

Choose a sensible default country, language or currency for a first visit, and let people change it.

  • Local time

Show times in the visitor's time zone, or schedule a message for working hours where they are.

  • Regional content

Point visitors to the nearest region, store or data center, and report where your traffic comes from.

IP location describes a network, not a person. Let people change anything you set from it.

THE RESPONSE

Clear fields. Honest limits.

Every response describes where an address is registered, with unknown fields left empty.

Country is reliable; city and coordinates are approximate. Need to know whether to trust the traffic too? Use IP Intelligence.
